NOVOTEL MONTE CARLO

Scope of work

Interior design

Location

Monte - Carlo, Monaco

Perched atop the city’s heights, the building designed by Jean-Michel Willmotte in 2007 offers breathtaking views of Monaco’s marina. Saguez & Dash agency seized upon the azure blue that dominates the bay to completely reimagine its interior design. Specifically, they drew inspiration from the sea and its depths.

A wave splashes across the façade, covering it in its blue light. It permeates the interior, submerging all spaces: the lobby, restaurant, bar, garden, floor, furniture... Cobalt blue, lagoon blue, lapis lazuli blue, Mediterranean blue—Blu Ponti harmonizes with the beige of sand and pebbles. The green of moss-covered rocks, algae, and cacti adds to the palette. Three ‘cool’ tones are warmed by complementary colors: coral and the yellow of the ocean floor.

Like emerging from a refreshing dip, the rooms are imbued with an enveloping and soothing atmosphere. Soft-hued tones bring warmth and light. Each room features a bespoke wallpaper panel edited by Élitis, with handmade raffia and collage details. They evoke original watercolor sketches inspired by the Côte d’Azur, the Palm Spring desert, the rugged Italian coastline, or the bay of Acapulco...

From the entrance, the panoramic view of the three levels covered in whitewashed wood and adorned with immense white cotton curtains accentuates the cathedral-like effect of the ocean depths. The sculptural chandelier, approximately 6 meters in diameter, crowning the central space, pays homage to the broad-brimmed hats of Riviera’s elegant ladies.
