Sip, Pause, Belong.

An urban pause for busy city dwellers: an intimate, comfortable space designed to be both efficient and inviting. A place where you can purchase your coffee but also take a moment to enjoy one, perhaps with a light bite. Saguez & Dash worked with Nespresso to design a café-boutique concept that could be replicated in capitals around the world, yet never as a simple copy-paste.

The Nespresso Café Vienna is the brand’s very first café worldwide. A touch of luxury within a compact space. Here, every square foot had to be optimized while creating a variety of tasting postures to ensure a seamless experience. Nespresso’s iconic black box is reimagined as a capsule dispenser. Inspired by the moka gradient, the design flows from light to dark: a white upper section symbolizing milk foam, and a light wood base evoking coffee itself.

The London Café-Boutique was the second to be imagined under this concept, this time in a larger space. A welcoming counter greets visitors at the entrance. Multiple tasting postures are possible: high seating, standing, facing the street, low seating, alone or in groups. Guests can work, charge their phones, set down their bags, or read the day’s newspapers at a communal table overlooking the street. Here too, the familiar black box is instantly recognizable.
