GENEVA AIRPORT

Scope of work

Interior design

Location

Geneva, Switzerland

The CAP 2030 project, which will give Geneva Airport a new look, has been in the works since 2018. Its most important goal is the renovation of Terminal 1, which opened in 1968 and will have reached its limits by 2040.

The renovation is built around the airport’s new positioning: The Essential Airport. We originally designed the overall vision for the project after winning an international tender. Our work included brand strategy, visual identity, the character of the site, usage studies, signage and furniture, retail and food and beverage design, and an identity charter for the offices. Today, we continue to advise the airport to keep the renovation consistent from start to finish.

We chose to highlight the Swiss values of this historic airport. The design will be understated, elegant and of the highest quality. Every detail will be carefully considered and built to last, creating a moment of simplicity, well-being and calm. Our overall design mission includes creating a new visual identity, graphic guidelines and tailored signage. We are also developing the interior design codes, including the choice of exterior materials, furniture and passenger flows. On the commercial side, we are optimizing the locations for the terminal’s shops and services, and we are creating guidelines for future tenants. Finally, we are improving working conditions for employees by designing new office spaces that encourage collaboration.
